All sheep are grass/hay fed and live on pasture year round. We supplement pregnant/lactating mothers. Price below based upon pic numbers: #1 - $1100 :: KHF RAGNAR :: Pics 1-6 :: 5 year old ram, 3/8 Mouflon ancestry. Our herd sire for four years. Magnificent ram, excellent worm resistance (has never been dewormed in his life). Very dominant with other rams and skittish around humans. He is the father of #2 and #5, grandfather of #3 and #4. He is likely a Gold Star Ram now, we just need to catch him (not easy) and measure his horns. #2 - $550 :: KHF VERSAILLES :: Pics 7-11 :: 18 month old ram, have already used for breeding. Thick horns and flowing mane. #3 - $300 :: Pic 12 :: 9 month old ewe #4 - $300 :: Pic 13 and 14 :: 8.5 month old ewe (with mother) #5 - $400 :: KHF VERINA :: Pic 14 and 15 :: mother of pic 4 - 2.5 year old ewe, has lambed twice Painted Desert sheep are a double-coated breed - they grow a thick coat during the winter and shed in ~May-June each year. Rams have large horns and some ewe also have horns but they are much smaller, similar to goat horns. Due to the influence of Mouflon, the Painted Desert Sheep may be flightier when confined to small spaces for working. Otherwise, they are calm in the pasture and have a strong flocking influence. They are a lean, agile sheep with meat the lacks a strong mutton flavor. Rams generally weigh 100-125lbs when full grown and ewes are 70-90lbs. They mature slowly and generally do not reach full size until around 2 years, but ewes can and will lamb by their first birthday if left with a ram. We try not to breed our ewes until they are one year old. Ewes have a strong mothering instinct and usually twin. We have never had to assist our ewes with lambing. Any questions, please ask but I ask that you respect my time. Unless marked sold that sheep is available. Knoll House Farm
