I would shift from first to third then back to second gear to get past the gate issue. Otherwise the transmission is in great condition. we only removed it to install an automatic transmission into a V8 engine conversion for a client. Most pros will tell you: "2nd gear synchro wear can cause blockout (which means that it doesn't want to select the gear)."
